Barnard Mountain Trail in Maine
The Barnard Mountain Trail is located near Stacyville, within the Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument.
The trailhead is located off Katahdin Loop Road.
According to AllTrails, it's a 4.5-mile out-and-back trail, and it takes an average of 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete.
It's known as a moderately challenging hike.
"The hike up Barnard is steep but rewards you with incredible views of Mount Katahdin," AllTrails states.
Spruce Loop Trail in Maine
The Spruce Loop Trail is located near Milford, within the Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge.
It's a 2.6-mile loop trail, and it takes an average of 51 minutes to complete.
Hikers say they enjoy the stunning scenery and peaceful environment.
It's generally considered an easy hike, but there are some muddy sections and a high mosquito presence, so bug spray and appropriate footwear are recommended.
The East Spur Overlook in Maine
The East Spur Overlook is located on Horse Mountain within Baxter State Park.
It's a 3.3-mile out-and-back trail, and it takes an average of 1 hour and 49 minutes to complete.
It's generally considered a moderately challenging hike, with a steady climb that does not get too steep at any point.
"The summit of Horse Mountain is wooded but there views of surrounding mountains and lakes from the ledges on the Horse Mountain East Spur Trail," AllTrails states.
Mount Chase in Maine
Mount Chase is located near Baxter State Park, about 15 miles from the park's north gate.
It's a 3.4-mile out-and-back trail, and it takes an average of 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete.
It's considered a challenging hike, but the views are incredible.
"After a drive up a rough road, the trail starts as an ATV track and later steepens to a rocky trail. The ascent is a pleasant walk through the woods, with the reward coming at the granite plateau summit which provides stunning views of nearby Mt. Katahdin and its sister mountains," according to AllTrails.
