One person is dead and another hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash in Alton.
Maine Police Say a Lagrange Man Was Killed in a Crash in Alton
Matthew Parsons, 42, of Lagrange was killed in the crash that happened Tuesday morning. The other driver, 70-year-old Peter McCormack of Alton suffered serious injuries.
Maine State Police Say a Head-On Crash Happened Near Alton Grocery in Alton
Maine State Police say Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 10 a.m. on Route 16, near Alton Grocery in Alton. When they arrived, they found Mr. Parsons deceased. Mr. McCormack was transported by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with life-threatening injuries.
An initial investigation into the cause of the crash indicates that a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Parsons, was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line and struck a Buick Regal, driven by McCormack, that was traveling in the other direction.
Maine State Police Say a Crash in Alton Closed Route 16 for Several Hours
Route 16 was closed to traffic for several hours while first responders tended to the drivers and cleared the scene. First responders from multiple agencies aided the State Police.
