A Bangor man is charged with murder for the death of a man found in a Union Street apartment.

Police Have Identified Both the Victim and the Accused in the Union Street Death

Gary Brinson, 69, of Bangor is charged with murder for the death of Lee Ruona, 64, also of Bangor.

A Deceased Man Was Found In An Apartment on Union Street in Bangor

Police were called to 288 Union Street in Bangor on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, where they found Ruona deceased in one of the building's apartments. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where a post-mortem examination determined his death was a homicide.

Brinson Has Been Taken Into Custody and Charged With Murder

The Bangor Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division, in conjunction with the State of Maine Office of the Attorney General, obtained an arrest warrant for Brinson, charging him with murder. He was taken into custody without incident on Friday, December 6, 2024, and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

Authorities have not commented on a motive for the murder or how Ruona died. This case remains under investigation.
