Incredible Video of a Whale Surprising Boaters in a Maine Marina

A group of early morning boaters were surprised recently when a whale repeatedly surfaced as it cruised around the Buck's Harbor marina.

There have been many reports in recent weeks of whales coming close to shore, and boaters have been advised to keep a safe distance while watching or filming them.

But what do you do when you're getting your moored boat set up for the day and, suddenly, a whale is having its breakfast while swimming around the boats in the marina?

Maine Boaters Surprised by a Large Whale That Swam Into and Around a Marina

Geoff Facey took an amazing video, posted on Facebook, which appears to show a quiet morning at the Buck's Harbor Marina in Brooksville.

Then there's a loud sound and the camera swings, as someone says, 'Right there!'

That's the first of many sightings in this video of the whale that came to breakfast.

The whale surfaces very close to several boats at 2:41 seconds into the video, with its mouth wide open, no doubt grabbing at some breakfast.

Whale at Maine Marina Delights Boaters While Also Making Them Uneasy

It must have been exciting, and more than a little nerve-wracking for all these boaters who loved watching the whale, but also recognized the damage it could cause to their boats.

In fact, at 3:54 in the video, the whale surfaces right in front of a boat that was moving through the harbor.

According to comments under the video, the whale had breakfast and then headed back out to sea via Eggemoggin Reach.
