David Priest Memorial Cruise-In Benefits a Scholarship for High School Students
Before I tell you about the cruise-in, let me tell you about David. I'm told that he loved anything with a motor, especially his truck that he had customized. David was a student in the automotive department at UTC, and then got a job at Glidden Autobody in Bangor.
Sadly, David died of cancer in 2012, at the tender age of 19.
His parents, Alta and John, decided to honor their son's memory by helping others with similar interests. So each year, a cruise-in is held at UTC in Bangor and the proceeds benefit the David Priest Scholarship Program which helps technical students from Hermon High School interested in the automotive trades pursue their career.
David Priest Memorial Cruise-In Includes Awesome Vehicles and Lots of Prizes
I attended the cruise-in last year and can tell you it's a fun time. First, there are so many vehicles, from custom trucks (my favorite) to classic vehicles, muscle cars, street rods...you never what you might find. But they're all beautiful.
Then, there are the prizes. If you make a donation to the David Priest Memorial Scholarship Fund, your name is entered for a chance to win one of the many, many grand prize drawings for prizes from local vendors.
Plus you can tour the automotive department at UTC. It's so much more than you expect from a shop in a school. When i was there, I snapped this photo of a lot of snowmobiles waiting to be repaired. It's amazing.
Don't miss the David Priest Memorial Cruise-in on Sunday, from 10 to 2, and help high school students like David achieve their dream careers.
