Maine Teen Charged With Arson After House Fire In Oakland

A teenager is charged with arson in connection with an Oakland fire at a house containing seven people.

Oakland, Maine Teen Charged with Arson for Libby Hill Road House Fire

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and charged with arson.

Officials then transported the juvenile to the Long Creek Youth Development Facility in South Portland.

His name is not being released because of his age.

Seven People Escaped an Oakland, Maine House Fire Without Injury

The charge stems from a house fire reported around 1:00 am on July 26, 2026, at 87 Libby Hill Road in Oakland.

At the time of the fire, two adults and five children were inside the house, most of whom were sleeping.

Working smoke alarms alerted one person to the fire, and they were able to wake everyone else in time to exit the house safely.

No injuries were reported.

Oakland, Maine House Fire Started in a Juvenile's Bedroom

Quick work by the Oakland Fire Department limited much of the fire damage to one bedroom and a hallway area of the second floor.

An initial investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office revealed that the fire had started in the juvenile's bedroom.

Investigators then charged the teen with arson and took him into custody.
