Scary Weekend in Saco with Several Shooting Suspects at Large
A manhunt for three suspects in a shooting has kept Saco Police busy and residents on edge.
Where Was the Shooting?
The shooting happened on Friday in downtown Saco. Police responded to a report of gunshots just before noon between a red Dodge Charger and a gray Honda HRV, near the intersection of North and Temple Streets. The two suspect vehicles then moved toward the intersection of North and Elm, where there was a collision. The suspect's Honda HRV crashed into another vehicle and the impact of that crash pushed the vehicles into an Old Orchard Beach school bus stopped at the intersection. No students were hurt in the crash.
What Do We Know About the Suspects?
After the collision, four suspects fled on foot. Police found evidence at the scene to suggest that at least one of the suspects, wearing all dark clothing, had been shot in the right arm. A firearm was found in the back seat of the Honda HRV. This vehicle was impounded as part of the investigation.
The red Dodge Charger was found outside the City of Saco later in the evening. That vehicle was also impounded. Pictures of three suspects were released by police, taken from various sources.
Area schools were closed and residents urged to shelter-in-place while police began a manhunt for the suspects. The shelter-in-place order was lifted later in the day, but residents were urged to be vigilant and report anything that seems suspicious. At the last report, the suspects remain at large.
