Maine & N.H. Are The Only States That Don’t Have This Restaurant
Crazy, but true!
There are more than enough fast food chains that exist throughout the United States, but for some odd reason, one in particular has zero locations in Maine and New Hampshire.
On any random night watching television, you can get bombarded with ads from Sonic. Nothing unusual there, but sometimes I have to admit, the food they are peddling looks pretty damn good,
Sonic Drive-In is a fast-food chain that serves burgers, hot dogs, onion rings, tater tots, and ice cream treats.
Sonic is known for its car-hop service, where food is brought directly to customers' cars, and its customizable drinks, including crushed ice. The chain's slogan is "Service at the Speed of Sound".
Recent data shows as of September 2023, Maine and New Hampshire are the only states without Sonic Drive-In locations. They are the largest drive-in restaurant chain in the United States, with over 3,549 locations across 45 states as of February of 2024. For example, Texas has almost 1,000 Sonic locations, kinda crazy that we don't have a single one.
Way back in 2013, a representative from Sonic said that New Hampshire was part of their future plans and that they were looking for the right location and franchise partner. Here we are 11 years later, and zip, zilch, zero.
So for the sake of argument, let's say you really were craving Sonic, the nearest location is in Massachusetts, where they have 4 locations, in Peabody, Somerset, Springfield, and Stoughton. Not exactly a quick drive.
