Here's what's happening in Bar Harbor on the 4th of July!
- 4th of July Lobster Scavenger Hunt - The YMCA has hidden 34 lobsters throughout Mount Desert Island. The lobsters will be dressed in their racing attire with a racing bib number. Participants will be given a list of business locations and you'll have to record their corresponding race number on the Scavenger Hunt Card. You can search now through July 4th at 2 p.m.. All Scavenger Hunt Cards must be turned into the MDI YMCA by Friday, July 4th at 2 p.m.
- 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. - Pancake Breakfast at the Ballfield on Park Street. Pricing is $13.00 for adults, $9.00 for children. Egg Sandwiches are $11.00. Coffee is $3.00
- Craft Fair/Marketplace - 8 a.m -3 p.m. Independence Day Parade - 11 a.m Note the new time for this year!
- Independence Day Parade - 10 a.m.
- Seafood Festival - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ballfield on Park Street. Pricing is Lobster Roll $29.00, Crab Roll $24.00, Hamburger $10.00, Hot Dog $4.00, French Fries $6.00, Watermelon $3.00, Chips $3.00, Soda/Water $3.00
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Family-Fun Activities at the Ball Field. The Summer Festival of the Arts will be there with various activity stations. $5.00 per activity station. The Bar Harbor School Building for our Future Group will be hosting a refreshment sale at the YMCA ballfield on the fourth of July from 11 AM to 2 PM. Refreshments will include lemonade, water and homemade Whoopie pies from West Eden Pizza.
- Entertainment at the Town Pier from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Great Maine Lumberjack Show with Timber Tina, who are celebrating their 30th year will put on a free performance from 1 to 3 p.m. This live demonstration includes underhand chopping, cross-cut sawing, modified chain-sawing and axe throwing. You can test out your own axe-throwing skills with a $5.00 donation to help support Acadia Youth Sports. Following The Great Maine Lumberjack Show stick around to dance along with live music from The Lucky Stars.
- The Bar Harbor Town Band will perform from 7:30 to 8:30 on the Village Green.
- Fireworks over Frenchman's Bay - Approximately 9:15 p.m. The best viewing is in Agamont Park

And remember! You don't have to pay for parking in Bar Harbor on the 4th of July. So even though the kiosks are there, feel like rebel and just ignore them!
Here's the Parade Route
The Bar Harbor Police Department will be closing the parking lot at the top of Newport Drive (Agamont Park) starting at 12 noon on Friday July 4th for the fireworks. No one should be parked on the street from Agamont Park down to West Street after 12 noon. Cars WILL be towed. Don't come back and have your 4th ruined because your vehicle was towed!
