Island Wide Mass Casualty Exercise Planned for Saturday April 19 at MDI High School

This Saturday, Saturday, April 19th there will be an Island Wide Mass Casualty exercise at MDI High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. THIS IS ONLY A DRILL

Planned participants include Hancock County Regional Communications Center, MDI Hospital, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Hancock County Emergency Management Agency, LifeFlight of Maine, Northern Light Medial Transport, Trenton Volunteer Fire Department and all Public Safety Agencies throughout the Island.

Public access to the MDI High School Track and back parking lots will still be available. The public safety exercise is occupying the parking lots by the gym and baseball field.

Students from MDI High School role played as victims, a wrecked vehicle was provided by MDI Towing. Firefighters were able to practice with the Jaws of Life. The Maine Forest Service sent a helicopter to simulate loading and transporting a patient to MDI Hospital. Most Fire Departments sent responders and Northeast Harbor Ambulance was there as well as Park personnel.
