Bangor Federal Credit Union Donated $5000 Each to Loaves and Fishes and HCTC Food Pantries
Wednesday, May 13th was a good day for fighting food insecurity in Hancock County, as Bangor Federal Credit Union presented a check for $5000 to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and $5000 to Hancock County Technical Center's Food Pantry.
Food insecurity in Maine is a real problem. According to the Campaign for Ending Hunger in Maine, Maine ranks 14th in the nation for food insecurity with approximately 43% of Maine students requiring food assistance every day and nearly 16% of Maine seniors at risk of going hungry.
Since 1990, credit unions around the state have collectively raised more than $16.3 million for ending hunger in Maine. In 2025 alone, Maine credit unions contributed $1,496,116.71 to combat hunger, $36,538.02 of which was from Bangor Federal, its employees, and its members.
“Our staff and members take a lot of pride in the work we do towards combating hunger”, said Cody Morgan, Marketing Director at Bangor Federal Credit Union. “That’s what makes moments like this so incredibly special to us. A year’s worth of hard work pays off when we get to see the impact donations like this make to food pantries that work so hard towards helping those in need in our backyard. We’re more than happy to play our part, no matter how big or small, in helping them in their continued mission”
