The Boston Red Sox blasted 4 home runs Friday night and Brayan Bello 1-hit the Pittsburgh Pirates through 6 innings as the Red Sox beat the Pirates 8-1..

Wilber Abreu, 3-5, with a double, hit his 1st homer of the season, to give  Boston a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning.

2 batters later, Tristan Casas hit his 6th homer of the season, and Boston led 2-0.

Rob Refsnyder was 2-5 and had a double and hit his 1st homer of the season in the 5th inning, a 2-run dinger.

Ceddanne Rafaela who's been scuffling at the plate, hit his 1st home run of the season in the 6th inning.

Bobby Dalbec, starting at 3rd base in place of Rafael Devers who missed another game because of a sore knee, had a double.

Bello struck out 7 and walked 2, allowing just the 1 hit. Chase Anderson pitched the 7th and 8th innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2. Cam Booser making his 1st major league appearance, pitched the 9th inning allowing 1 hit and 1 run, striking out 1.

Boston is now 11-10. They will play Pittsburgh in the 2nd game of the 3-game series Saturday afternoon. Kutter Crawford is scheduled to start for the Red Sox. The pregame begins at 3:05 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 4:05 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
