Yesterday the Red Sox lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 18-8 as a Red Sox pitchers combined to allow 16 walks. Adam Ottavino was hit hard, allowing 6 runs on 3 hits, walking 3 in retiring just 1 batter. Lucas Giolito was removed from his start with hamstring tightness.

At the plate yesterday, Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 2-run double. Romy Gonzalez, Vaughn Grissom, David Hamilton, Nick Sogard and Trayce Thompson all drove in a run.

Manager Alex Cora announced that Brayan Bello would not be ready to pitch on opening day, and will likely start the season on the Injured List. Rafael Devers who has not appeared in a game yet this season is likely to start on Saturday, March 15th against the Braves.
