Authorities Say Massachusetts Man Shot To Death In Palmyra, Maine
A Massachusetts man died this week after being shot in a home in Palmyra, authorities say.
Somerset County Sheriff Deputies spent all day Wednesday at the property on Madawaska Road after arriving at the scene to find a body inside the residence.
According to the Maine State Police, sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Palmyra home just after 1:30 Wednesday morning. A caller described hearing gunshots coming from that area.
"The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Jaquan Humphries of Mattapan, Massachusetts, who had been living at the residence. His body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was performed. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide."
Shannon Moss, Department of Public Safety Spokesperson, says members of the Major Crimes and the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team worked the scene in Palmyra all day.
Authorities do not believe the public is in any immediate danger and will continue to investigate the situation.
