This spring hasn't been bad, but it'd be nice to warm up a bit more.

This hasn't been the worst spring... Oh, wait. I mean, other than getting a back to back wind and ice storms in the first week of April, it's been fantastic. For real, aside from that, temps picked up a bit and launched us into what finally felt like real spring. But we have missed the date for our historical average, for our first 70 degree day. On average, that should've happened almost two weeks ago.

Instead, we've had a bunch of days here in the Bangor area that have gotten into the 60's, but I feel like we've all just been waiting to cross that magic threshold into the 70's. We want the sun's out, fun's out kind of temps, right? I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but next week might just deliver...

It's not set in stone, but the Bangor area might finally hit 70 next week.

According to the forecast from the National Weather Service, the temperature on Tuesday is predicted to hit 68 degrees. Obviously, this could change, but it could also trend upward. It seems lately, the actual day's temp has often exceeded the one predicted in the forecast, by a few degrees. So could we hit 70? Why not?

It'd be great to finally feel some real warmth. It would at least justify all the black flies I'm seeing all over the place. I'm not used to being bitten in the face when it's still only mild spring weather. It just isn't right. Then of course, the mosquitoes will be right behind them. There's always something to look forward to in Maine...

But for real, even though it's been kind of a truly odd (at best) weather year, it seems it's finally starting to sort itself out. Of course, we'll have to see what summer brings, and if it ends up somewhat normal, or if it's a sad, damp, black and white movie of a summer, like last year. Only time will tell, but let's just start with crossing our fingers for next week...
