Route 9 In Eddington Remains Closed As Crews Replace Poles
Update as of 10:18 AM 12/12/2024 Eddington Fire says the road will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
"Route 9 is still closed. Utilities have been here to assess. Versant needs to replace the pole and secure electrical wires. Then phone and cable companies can hang lines. We have no update about the estimated time. We have expressed our concerns about the prolonged road closure...All Fire Dept units have cleared the scene after 5.5 hrs. "
If your morning commute takes you through the Eddington area along Route 9, you'll want to find an alternative route this morning. According to the Eddington Fire Department, the entire road is blocked, and they expect it to remain that way all morning.
An accident involving a vehicle and not one, but multiple poles, not only has power out to the area but has left folks without a way to travel through town.
"Route 9 - Main Rd in Eddington closed near Clifton Town line due to a Car vs Pole accident. Multiple poles and lines down. Avoid the area. "
Authorities say that while crews from Versant Power and the Maine Department of Transportation are on the scene and actively working on the issue, this is a complete closure of the road, so there's no way to get through that area without going around, and that's not going to be a quick fix, unfortunately.
"DOT is assisting with detours at Rt 9 & 46 and Rt 9 & Rt 180. The only way to get to Brewer/Bangor from Clifton is via Ellsworth."
At the last check of Versant's Outage Map, the power was out from Eddington to Aurora and the Great Pond Area, down through Otis, Mariaville, and Graham Lake.
